READING CAMP HARFORD is a FREE week-long full day camp for children entering second through fifth grades. It is held at the community center at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Abingdon.

Our Mission is to provide a safe, fun summer camp setting for elementary school age children who are reluctant readers. They may be struggling with some basics of comprehension or phonics, or searching for a genre that sparks their desire to read for pleasure. Campers explore new ideas and ways to express themselves through engaging learning sessions, indoor and outdoor games, crafts, and-especially!-the chance to relax and have fun with new friends.

Campers receive breakfast, lunch and two snacks per day, a string bag filled with school supplies, summer fun toys and snacks, books to take home and keep and summer reading practice mixed with good, wholesome fun!
